How many Japan Red / Electric Red E46s?

My 320i is Japanrot ("Japan Red" - listed as "Electric Red" on the dealer buildsheet printout). I took her into a specialist Indy here in Toronto (RMP Motors) today for an initial service - oil & filter, coolant change, brake fluid change, air filter, cabin filter, both belts. Rocco said he had maybe seen 3 E46s in that colour (and he sees a lot of E46s). His E90 track car is Japan Red though!

How many are out there? Anyone know the numbers for each model or each colour?

Who else has Japan Red? I'm growing to like it more!

Bob

The US has that same color, however is it called Imola Red here. Same color.. different name. The color name is pure marketing.

I thought Imola Red was darker from pics I had seen ... but you're probably right. I go with the German Japanrot

The US has the same color and it is called Bright Red. Imola red is a darker color.

Nice car M0nk3y! I am thinking of replacing my chrome kidneys with a black set. It's the only chrome on my car!

electric, japan, and hellrot to me are all the same.... technically i don't know if they are the same or not, but they are VERY close

some say that japan is a tad darker, and hellrot/electric have more orange in it

I can't tell

however i do know that Imola Red and the 3 reds above are completely different... Imola is deeper and has a gorgeous blue/purple pearl and metallic to it 2nd to none

jesus h a lot of people here shouldn't give advice.

Hellrot is the red that was used on the pre-facelift e46's and older cars.

Japanrot (electric red) is the facelift red. (see my car)

Imola is a different beast entirely. Darker than either Hellrot or Japanrot.
