Headlights

I have a 2000 328ci. Just curious why do the headlights move when the car turns on?

You mean side to side? I don't recall the E46 having that feature.

You probably have xenons. They move up/down when the car is started and move up/down depending on how much you accelerate/brake

Test of the auto-level system. If your leveling arms are not broken and working properly then the headlights will try to stay at a leveled position to the road to prevent blinding other drivers and maintain the best visibility on the road.

My bad. I didn't read his post correctly. I thought he said "turns" rather than "turns on"!

Regardless, I didn't know the later E46s got the adaptive xenons. I thought only the E90s got that.
