Dealer inspection results- DYI?

Hello, Had my 2006 330ci, (imola red, with zhp package), with 75k miles on it.
at a BMW dealer for a look over before i try to sell it. Observations:
1. Valve cover gasket leaking. How hard is this repair, how long should it take ?
2. Control arm bushing 'torn' (though nothing to see) with loose ball joint? While up on a lift he showed me motion within the bushing (using a crow bar for leverage). This is beyond my capabilities so $1,350 for that job.
any comments?

There are YouTube vids by the 50s kid that can show you how to replace the valve cover gasket. Itís not hard but you have to work carefully or else the new gasket will leak. As far as the lower control arm bushing, have a reputable indie shop that specializes in bimmers do the work. Try www.bimrs.org.

OK thanks for the reply.
any idea what would be a reasonable price to pay for professionals to do valve cover gasket?
how about replacing both control arms and bushing ?
thanks

It depends on where youíre located. Iím in the Washington DC metro area and shops get ~$150 an hour for labor.

The valve cover gasket should take an hour or so. Make sure the tech:
- inspects the cover for cracks as the cover is made of plastic
- replaces the 14(?) grommets
- installs a gasket either from the dealer or made by Elring.

Replacing the lower control arms and bushings takes at least 2 hours. Make sure the tech installs either dealer parts or Meyle HD control arms and bushings. I did this job a few times in my old 2001 330Ci and was a lot of work even for me and Iíve been wrenching on bimmers since 1974.
