X3 intake tube vs dual tubes

Has anyone attempted to use the X3 M54 intake tube? I read somewhere that it works as a drop in replacement for the dual tubes that we use.

Looks like it will fit. What are you hoping to gain? Simplicity?

I saw an E46 with it installed, but have not tried it myself. Go for it!

I like the idea of this. Purely for peace of mind and simplification.

But it would mean that removing the upper boot is no longer an option. If you need to remove the X3 boot for access to anything in that area, you've get to get past the DISA to the hose clamp.

It should eliminate one potential vacuum leak spot.

Honestly any job where removing the upper intake would help will also be helped by removing the lower one too.

I did it on both my 330s. Access to tighten the lowest clamps was a pain, but I like not having two extra clamp points.

It seems fairly cost effective too. Comparative pricing on the internet shows a slight savings (depending on vendor) to having only the one piece X3 set up. Are the bends in the tube to the airbox really the same?
