I think the biggest issue most of us have is the placement. Honestly I'd have much less issue with it as a windshield banner. It just doesn't fit the lines, etc, and looks awkward where it is. Otherwise, killer 330, man. Seriously...love the ACS bits, etc.

After removing ICV and cleaning it out. Replacing upper/lower intake boots. Replacing DISA valve. Engine running smooth. No rough cold start. Engine light still out after 52 miles driving time. Still early but seems I may have fixed those P0171. P0174. P1449 codes I had prior to.

Tried a different configuration of LED fog lamp... this is MUCH better as it focuses the light VERY similar to a filament 9006 (HB4) bulb... or perhaps I should say it allows the projector to properly focus the light.

My first set of LED bulbs were round, which defeats most normal housings and basically projected the light out in a 360 degree cone (for reference, with standard bulbs, the light goes out in a 180 degree half-circle -- if you ever turn on your fogs only you'll notice there's a distinct top cutoff).

The second set's LED placement mimic a filament bulb much closer, thus retaining (for the most part) that cutoff.

Here's a pic with the new LEDs... you can see a definite top-cutoff and notice they're lighting the ground right in front of the car. The old ones were a perfect cone (what you see on the bottom was the same on the top).

Also, just to add; the E46 did NOT ever include a bulb-check for fogs (or if it did, it was never enabled). The bulbs don't flash/blink, they don't cause a bulb-out warning, nothing. They're also 30W each, so they even run cooler than 55W filaments.

Anyways, these are the sort of shape/LED positions you want:

I saw! I was looking at those, since I have the Mtech2 bumper, but I figured I'll save my pennies since I'll need a new set of Michelins soon

This is really useful. Already got LEDs in my fog housings but looking to upgrade. Had identified the same LED style as you but the plugs were on tails and they all seemed to have fans on the back so wasn’t sure about fitment.

Thanks for the info and doing the work!

About a month ago I replaced the LR regulator. Whomever did the one before me, they left the one nut head rounded a bit... the only one that hold the glass, so i had to take a cutting wheel to it. Luckily it didn't damage anything else. Once that was off, all else was easy to do.

You bet! In fact, one of the reasons (aside from laziness) I hadn't popped in LEDs was because of the fans and stuff...

Simple mods:

I airbrushed the reflective lens in my foglights bright green (looks awesome on my black 325xi touring). Will be airbrushing all of the chrome trim the same color.

Clear turn signal lenses

Mishimoto RAM air intake, really improved response in the low to mid RPM range.

Swapped out the wheels for some 18s off of an e46 M3. The staggered wheels look really good.

BC Coilover suspension

More complex things:

Complete cooling system overhaul, with Mishimoto radiator and hoses

Plan to do:

Exhaust system
Suspension (lowering springs and new shocks/struts)
Underdrive Pulleys
Throttle Body spacer
ECU Tuning
CSL Front and Rear Bumper swap
Restore full paint job

Does buying one count?

No where near as awesome as my old one I had 2ish years ago, but it'll make a good daily & upgrade from my dying E36.

Oil change #10 in the last 51,000. Mailed off a Blackstone sample for fun.

Two days with all the cleaning, redressing the engine module loom, and learning this engine for the first time. Definitely did some things inefficiently and lots of referencing materials time.

176K on the car, engine was pretty filthy

I think I may have ruined my idle control valve from my cleaning process. I didnt only use throttle body cleaner, I was also de-greasing and hosing some parts that were oil covered.

it was fine when I removed and checked the flap for easy movement when I shook it but I noticed it had significant resistance when I was reinstalling it post cleaning.

Have a bouncing idle now.

Have had a couple times in the past 3 months that EML light triggered, once with no effect, once that caused a lurching idle bounce that was undriveable, both times the light was gone after turning the car off and restarting.

Ordered new Idle Control valve and new accelerator pedal with sensor, hoping I dont have to replace a throttle body.
