The improved (material removed) cap worked great.
Holds down snug to the membrane and has no excess pressure during acceleration. Great job Paraklas! Looking forward to the membrane disks from Paraklas. Whilst go back to the OEM plastic cap, I broke my disk during cleaning. |

Thanks so much for your efforts and trouble! When you have time, and mainly out of curiosity, which Russian diaphragm did you use? This one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Membrane-va...AAAOSwOgdYwrKG which I think has been selling on eBay for a while, and is where I bought mine. Or this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Membrane-va...kAAOSwQz1bDpFe which I don't think has been selling on eBay for very long, not that it matters. Thanks again to you and paraklas! |

reported that as spam .. but to answer the question anyway with my current understanding and to help some other late-comers:
the plastic valve cover on the m54 works, but it warps over time resulting in a valve cover gasket leak and oil burning smell in the cabin. and the oil separator (ccv) also works, but the design is poor, and it doesn't last very long .. resulting in oil consumption and other issues. so it's better to replace the plastic valve cover with the metal valve cover from the m56 sulev .. the aluminum doesn't warp and includes the redesign/replacement ccv. but the plastic cap on the m56 valve cover doesn't last either and cannot be replaced separately. so it's better to replace that plastic cap with an aluminum cap designed by the helpful fanatics here to work with a replacement rubber diaphragm on ebay from vanos-bmw in russia. |

Given the positive feedback from omgwtf, I am thinking the following..
1. get the prototype back, and whoever wants to, can send me their caps back to modify them and resend. The machinist wont charge me as long as I order more caps (more than 15), so this can take some time. I won't ask for shipping from anyone from the 1st groupbuy. If we're going to include the retaining disks as well they will be manufactured along with the next groupbuy. 2. have a local machine shop shave the material from the cap.

I just sent a PM asking for the address to send back the three caps I bought. I'd prefer the caps be updated by the machinist who did the original fabrication. The machinists local for me have minimum/setup charges that make the return option the best alternative. I would also like to buy 3 retainer disks once they are fabricated. My continual thanks for all of the work/time/road trips on making this project happen!! And thanks to omgwtf for doing the testing!! |

I need to finish the remachining and also start the 2nd groupbuy, so please, whoever wants to send his back for remachining, contact me on my e-mail [email protected] as this forum PM gets full very fast to get return address info.
By 15/11/2019 please arrange to have caps sent back, so that I can start the process which will include: Remachining + retaining disks for 1st groupbuy new caps + retaining disks for 2nd groupby

Also if you're sending back, please don't declare it more than $20... customs are giving me a hard time here..

Hi Paraklas,
I forgot to let you know it was arriving. Mine's the one from Spokane.

I'd love to be added to the list for the new batch. I just found out about this whole thing this weekend.
I'm in the process of doing the m56 cover conversion. And it would be great to replace the membrane now as well as the alloy cap/disk. Let me know if you need anything from me! |
