I'm guessing really high mileage. No mention of miles in the ad. Not bad though.

Yep, and the A-pillar fabric seems pretty rumpled as well.

Still, for someone not scared of high mileage, it could be a good starting point. Has potential I think.

Other then that duct tape (Oh the humanity) on the driver seat looks pretty clean. Usually modified cars scare me as they have usually been driven hard but this person put some money into it and replaced the right parts. I would still want a ppi done though. I'm also pretty sure BMW didn't make an "Oriental" blue paint

This is the second one I've found like this where it has almost as much in additional extras as the asking price of the car.

What makes someone put 4-5K in a car and ask 5.5K out of the car? I mean that shock / strut setup is like 1K right?

I've put more than 8k into my car the last two years and I've already accepted that I will never get that money back if I ever decide to sell my car. People are just not willing to pay that much, the market isn't there. Perhaps this trend will change as time goes on and the number of clean e46s declines, but who knows

If you only look at the car as a financial investment, then Toyota Landcruiser is probably a better vehicle for that. This is exactly the reason so many people buy into the Honda Accord/Pilot or Toyota Camry type vehicle: resale value. With E46 we are free from such concerns as we buy these cars for driving. The suspension upgrades or any other extras are for enjoyment of the car. If you count on those as a financial investment, then you will have a bad ROI.

Not looking at it from that perspective. Certainly not expecting a ROI on this purchase. The car I buy will remain stock except for some minor suspension changes and possibly a full aluminum radiator. I wonder how many people say that?

When I was young I had Cameros. When looking for one to upgrade I always looked for one that had been left stock and driven easy. Those were the ones I purchased and drove and it was a wise choice. Sure I kicked it now and again but it scares me to see a BMW for sale I might think has been abused.

What I am saying is if you like the car so much that you invest an amount of money into upgrades to the amount of the worth of the car or more, why would you sell it? And who would buy it? I never bought a car in my life that I thought the previous owner rode hard, and that process has worked for me.
