That's kinda where I was going: if this unit was dislodged with prejudice, there may be broken parts, either in the rad and/or the heat exchanger and pipes. The risk is that you cook the tranny.

If it was "loosened" because the belt whacked it, I'd be taking a close look at whatever it attaches to to see if the fitting is actually broken. Does that go into the bottom of the rad?

Didnt recall doing that, but my E91 likes it after battery disconnect. Looking for connection between lights and battery disconnect here.

On noise/smell front, sure sounds like something is amiss in the belt department. I'd be rechecking install. Can't imagine a pulley suddenly decided to let go at this time. Perhaps remove air box...
