Sunday was a good day.

I still have some idle tuning to sort out, possibly a vacuum leak causing the high idle and idle hunt.

Transmission was in Neutral not Park allowing the wheels to turn.

Onwards from here.....

All new control arms up front, hubs with wheel bearings, LCAB's, inner and outer tie rods, sway bar bushings, and sway bar end links.

BC Racing adjustable coil overs with 10kg/mm springs up front, standard 12kg/mm in rear, shocks tuned to match.

All four new rebuilt calipers with Speed Bleeders, Wagner solid rotors, Power Stop Z26 pads (Street performance) and Bimmerworld braided hoses.

So basically everything I could replace that wears on the front end I replaced. I will do the same to the back end when I remove the rear subframe for reinforcing.

But first I need to get the motor running smoothly.

Say Hi to George, he is enjoying the sun last weekend.

Matt, the smoke was just the header wrap burning in.

Part of the rattle sound early in the video was a heat shield I made just barely rubbing on the power steering pump pully.

The video sound is not good, possibly due to echo in the garage. The rattle is not as bad in person, but definitely something I will listen to more closely once I get the engine to idle properly.

Matt 330LS,

The shop I'm working with is getting close to firing my swap. Along this little journey I've come to have a higher and higher opinion of those people that manage these swaps themselves. There are a LOT of dead-ends and 'try it and see' turns - even with a shop doing it. There are also a lot of shortcuts that can seem good to take at the time, and end up becoming a 'redo from start' scenario...

Mad Props!

Good luck on the first fire-up, you're going to love it. It took awhile to get my car on the road after that first start up. Wheels, tires, brakes, and coilovers...not to mention work and a long winter...among other things. I've just now hit about 100 miles on the car and it's a beast. I suppose I should update my build post here sometime. In the meantime here's a link to the first start last spring. Don't mind the shaky camera, the open headers were shaking the table I mounted it to.

Hey guys, I forgot I had even started this thread.
My project was 'on ice' so to speak over the winter.
I put the car back on the ground and drove it out of the garage for the first time about a month ago. (Video link below) Just up and down the alley a few dozen feet. Works perfectly in reverse but felt like it was slipping or dragging in D. I asked on the forums about the slipping and it was suggested that perhaps I have no power to the trans (4L60E) and it is in limp mode. I can confirm there is 12v going to the trans but cant confirm it is getting there because I cant reach the electrical plug on the trans to test it.
Just Friday I finally ordered HP Tuners and a training course from Throttle-Up Industries, originally created by ERM Performance then sold to Throttle-Up after the owner passed away a couple of years ago. The training course is very good so far, I am on module 4 of about 11. This Course will show me how to use HP Tuners software and how to look at the transmission and what it is doing. Then I will also be able to fine tune the engine, set fan temps and a myriad of other things. The training course is 30% off if you by the MVP2i and credits from them. So $500 for everything. I will need to add a wideband down the road for WOT tuning, another $250 but I can learn idle and cruise tuning first.

I actually had to make my own, there is no plug and play solution for headers with the TDR engine mounts.
Pretty happy with how they turned out, but they were a lot of work, and my SS welding skills are far from professional.

Currently working with LS Power Tuning to get the tune sorted. Engine is idling well, but the car surges in reverse and jumps through first, second and third gear as soon as you try to drive forward. Hoping this is all in the tune, the games continue.
