UUC Twin Silencer Exhaust
Written by: VinnyMac April 1, 2001

Application: E46 330Ci

Fit & Finish:
The UUC TSE is made from 100% T-304 stainless steel. It only takes one look to realize it is a well-manufactured system. The welds are very clean and the entire exhaust has a polished and clean look. I decided to install the exhaust myself and spent the majority of the time cutting my OEM piping since all I had available to me was a simple chain-style tailpipe cutter (free rental from AutoZone). Once I had the OEM pipes cut; I noticed right away how much lighter the TSE is compared to stock. UUC website states the exhaust system weighs 23 lbs. You’re going to get a substantial weight savings going from OEM to TSE because you’re also removing the 2nd resonator…, which is heavy. The TSE fits perfectly under the car! I didn’t have to spend a single moment trying to make the exhaust fit properly. It really is bolt on and go. The huge 3” tips are a nice touch as well.
Score: (9 / 10)

Performance & Tone
I know, I know…everyone is wondering, “Well, how does it sound?” All I can say is, “WOW!” The sound is fantastic. VERY deep and throaty and just sounds mean at low RPM. The sound of the TSE definitely turns heads and sets off quite a few car alarms around my neighborhood. However, it’s not overbearing and isn’t as loud as some of the other exhausts available…for example, Remus or BBTriflo. The TSE has a very aggressive tone at low to mid RPM and is very mild at cruising speed. It does not have the highway “droning” sound I was trying to escape from with my Dinan free flow exhaust (thank god!). As far is performance…honestly, I do not feel much of a difference between the TSE and Dinan on the low end (which is what I expected), but the high end is much improved. Passing on the highway is less labored (not meaning a 330 labors when overtaking) and I don’t even need to downshift.
Score: (8.5 / 10)

Summary:
I am very happy with the UUC TSE and would highly recommend it to any E46 owner. Looking at the introductory price alone would easily justify the purchase but UUC’s commitment to customer satisfaction really differentiates their business from the others. The TSE is simply a great product backed by a great company. Rob Levinson stands behind his products and really adds value to the E46fanatics community. The fit is perfect and will not interfere with fully body kits or add-ons. The low profile of the twin silencers is nice if you plan to really slam your car. So, how would I compare it to the Dinan Free Flow exhaust? I’ll put it this way…I sold my Dinan can yesterday.
Overall: (9 / 10)
