6 speed is from a late model e46 330xi. Reasoning is that I can keep my shorter automatic diffs yet still cruise on the highway at low RPMS.

Bump for a nice car. The 6-speed is great. I got to drive the car last weekend and the short throw Z4 shifter feels perfect. Short, direct shifts and gearing is well matched for the car.
