Idle Control Valve Cleaning DIY?

Can someone post a DIY on how to clean the Idle Control Valve? I'm sure a lot of people could use one, including myself

I think I heard that you just remove it and then spray it out with brake cleaner. If anyone else has more info please chime in...I think a lot of people would want to know. Seems like a lot of people are having problems with this thing.

is this the one that you can help temporarily clean by redlining it briefly in neutral/idle?

just found this,,its actually written for the e36 but the same principles should apply. hope it helps!

also theres another thread where they mention doing the redling @ idle as well as putting half a tank of regular grade gasoline to spur your computer's octane calculations back in track.. sounds weird but is suggested in some places. http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthr...+control+valve

I don't think redlining when idling is a good idea...

That E36 write-up is nice and it would be great if we could get one for the M52/M54!
