Problem with OBC and Foglight & Highbeam Indicators

I'm sure some of you have this issue...

My car is a 2000 328ci with OBC. when I press the OBC button on the turn signal stalk, it doesn't cascade through the various functions on my display. It is stuck on the clock.

I also noticed that when I press my foglights on, they physically DO turn on, by the indicator in the cluster does not. Same thing for Highbeams.

Anyone have this issue? Anyone know the fix?

:) Thanks

Just want to update this thread with the solution for anyone browsing or doing a search on the topic.

Fuse # 10 , a 5 amp fuse, is the one responsible for the OBC button on the stalk working, the high beam and foglight indicators.

Fuse 10 was MISSING from my car. I don't know why, but i put the spare in, and everything works perfectly.

So if anyone has these symptoms check fuse #10

I just want to say the same thing worked for me. Fuse #10 wasn't in the car, and it had been working for months before it quit, and I placed a 5amp fuse in slot 10, and it fixed the problem for me (same thing, fog and high beam indicators wouldn't illuminate, even when those lights were on). Thanks!

Thank you! Works for me as well!

Have no idea HOW it worked 7+ years before w/o that #10 5Amp fuse, though... Bentley electrical diagrams are clearly showing it must be there, but originally it doesn't. Car is '2001 330Ci.
It was a royal FUBAR with faulty fuel pump/fuel level sensor assembly (got replaced by local $tealership in 2005, one wire going to pump motor has undercrimped bad connection right near connector pin, so it was getting hot and melted plastic housing atop of assembly, then 12 volts from pump supply got short-circuited with fuel level sensor pin and applied to pins 12 & 16 (fuel level sensors) of X11175 connector on instrument cluster, as a result couple of PCB traces inside of it has been burnt to ashes). I've fixed the cluster, but OBC functions, high beam & foglight signals on dashboard was gone since that Big Spark event. I checked everything related to those lights when cluster was disassembled and haven't found any clue what's wrong with em'.

I could be redundant saying that first thing $tilership MoFos proposed to fix that Fuse #10 problem was new instrument cluster for $1700+. What a :censor:...

Regards and Thank You again,

A.

This is old but I had to add a comment. I had the exact same problem for ages, various posts on other forums with no luck. Car failed its MOT today because the high beam and fog indicators didnt work which I never noticed. Quick google, found this sure enough I was missing fuse 10. Replaced and the problem is fixed! :)
I was expecting a huge bill from an auto electrician as the problem started after a massive short circuit but was two seconds and I even had the fuse! How on earth can this problem suddenly occur after years of not having the fuse there?!! Who knows! Anyway, thanks :)

I too had this problem. Purchased a used 2002 325xi with cruise control light stuck on, steering wheel cruise control buttons dead, non-working high-beam indicator light, and the OBC button dead. Bought a new turn signal stalk off eBay before I smartened up and googled the problem (found the answer here first http://garagetalkmsge.wordpress.com/tag/bmw-e46-cruise-control-light-stuck-on/ ).

Whadda u know? There was no number 10 fuse, the slot was just empty. Quick trip to the parts store and 50 cents later, cruise control light went out (and now actually turns on when it should/steering wheel buttons now work), high-beam indicator light comes on, and the OBC button now works.
Only difference I see is that my fog light indicator light has always worked as it should and was unaffected by the missing #10 fuse.

Why are so many of these cars missing the #10 fuse and/or why did these features function normally without it and then one day stop?_nr_
