why is my car eating up SO much gas?

filled up my car yesteray at around 830.. i was basically empty so i filled it up full.

then checked the range on the car and it said.. +360 miles.. so im thinking sweeeeeeeeeeeet. i love it when my car has gas. lol

i drive to go pick up my little brother and the range gradually goes down and is at about +345.. get to pick up my brother and it says +305 miles.. get home and it's at +300...

turn my car on today and i notice it had burned almost 1/4 a tank.. wtf? i just got gas yesterady at 830PM and now it's almost a whole half tank gone..

i dont drive my car that hard either. always go speed limit..

im SO confused..

gas is expensive.. 30$+ for 12-13 gallons. i dont wanna have to go fill up again a day or two after i filled up cuz my car is at half tank or almost empty.

really making me mad.

what's wrong with my car? is there anything wrong? this happen to anyone else?

foot + BMW gas pedal = floor. I understand your pain. I have to fill up around 1 to 2 times a week. Something about that inline 6 just makes me want to put the pedal to the metal.

I have the same problem. I do not drive very aggresive but I still only get 19.2 mpg! That seems really really low for the kind of driving I do. Is there anything that could be wrong or is that about right for gas mileage?

other possible causes:

your brother drives it
you have a leak
your tires are underinflated
your car is out of alignment
your cat is bad
your exhaust is clogged
your intake is clogged or air filter is hideously dirty

i think we all have that problem
but im almost sure it has to do with how we drive.
when my dad drove the car, he went 60 miles in 1/8 a tank.
when i i started driving agian, i went 10 miles in another 1/8. lol.. damn
granted, my dad was driving freeway miles, and i was local.

I havea 325 loaner right now and no matter how many times I gun it or drive over 100mph, it definitely uses a lot less gas than my 330. The other day I put in like half a tank and when I dropped off the car to the dealer which was about 20 miles away, the tank showed just between half and quarter tank. the 325, which I drove like over 100 miles yesterday, dropped only like a quarter tank.

Not sure if this might be your problem... but I just had my fuel sensor replaced cause it kept on saying my tank was full when it wasn't, and kept on saying it had half a tank left when I just filled up. My SA said they were getting a lot of those lately...
