Well I've been stockpiling this stuff so I thought I'd share. Content is something you have all probably come across but I'm serving it up in one location. It's not exactly everything you would want to know just a bunch of stuff I like to keep handy and a lot of stuff that people seem to ask about before searching.
Feel free to add, but keep down the clutter and the OT and ask questions elsewhere.....Then again, do what you want. -D Best places to buy mods http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=324495 HOW TO tell if its real leather. E46 325/330i Inspection II Package Part #: INSP2M54 Applications: 2001 - 2004 325/330i/Ci (E46) Inspection II Package for E46 325/330i/Ci. Click for more info. Includes: BMW Synthetic 5W30 engine oil (7 quarts), OEM oil filter, Ate Super Blue brake fluid, A/C microfilter, Bosch spark plugs, OEM air filter, Red Line transmission and differential oil (2 quarts of each), OEM fuel filter. Optional items for the Do-It-Yourselfer are the Peake Fault Code/Reset Tool and/or a Bentley Service Manual. An Inspection II consists of replacing all of the above parts as well as giving your car a thorough look-over. Much of the work is simply checking various parts and systems on the car which usually leads to more work that should or needs to be done. The above list is what BMW recommends to be done during an Inspection II (or every 40,000 miles). A home mechanic will have limited ability to give a car a complete Inspection II service so we recommend bringing your car to an experience BMW mechanic and having them complete the inspection for you. Keeping up with the maintenance on your car is the smart thing to do. For one thing, it prevents costly repairs in the future. For another, your car performs better, making aftermarket upgrades more worthwhile. And a well-maintained car with complete service records can add substantially to a car's resale value. Make sure you also order the Peake Code/Reset Tool -- resetting those Inspection/Service lights on your dash is the best method of keeping track of service intervals. You can also read and reset engine error codes thereby saving yourself a trip to the dealer (and the charge for reading the codes). Learn then Live
Do you drive your car so everyone can see that gangsta lean to the right??
OR...... Do you drive your car to hit the apex and apply full throttle out? At the track Anybody else rev match to downshift or Heel Toe every decreasing radius corner like I do? Would you like to but haven't the faintest? We all start somewhere. You Auto's could learn a thing here too. http://www.turnfast.com/ Proper driving techniques can also help you out of some rough driving situations. I can't drive comfortably anymore unless I'm at 9-3. When I went into a drift (DSC on) after a 50mph "accident avoidence manuever" I'm glad I knew how to handle it. Of course like anything worth attaining, practice helps. |

Battery Info Update
Please note that the Duralast 49DL will NOT fit in an e46 convertible. Unlike the sedan, the battery tray will not accomodate a battery longer than the BMW OEM battery. The Duralast 94R fits perfectly, but at about $120 is much more expensive than the 49DL. I guess they figure BMW owners can spend more money.
Also, some people thought that the convertible had a special battery type due to the extra vibrations that convertibles endure. I can tell you that the OEM battery is the same part number for convertible and sedan. The extra shock absorption is done via the tray. |

80AH 640A 1 61218381749 (two other batteries have been discontinued) There are two part#s currently listed for the Sedan: 70AH 570A 1 61218381738 80AH 640A 1 61218381749 (four other batteries have been discontinued) While 61218381749 might still be listed for the Sedan, it doesn't mean that battery isn't the special design. More likely BMW realized the Sedan also needed the 'vert battery designed for vibration, or maybe they just wanted to eliminate parts. Last edited by mach.schnell; 05-14-2011 at 05:41 PM. |
