My passenger side mirror was knocked off the other day. I purchased a new housing unit from a BMW dealership and I plan to install it myself. The only thing is I need to remove the old mirror (just the glass) from the broken housing and install it in the new housing. Can anyone point me out to an online guide or just tell me what I need to free the mirror of the housing?
Look under the bottom of the glass, behind it you should see a little tab. Use a very small thin screwdriver and slide the tab (can't recall if you slide it clockwise or counterclockwise....)
That will unlock the glass. There will most likely be some double sided tape still holding it barely in place as well.
TKC, thanks for the quick reply! I saw a picture of this, but it was for an M3. Does the same procedure still apply to a regular 325ci? I know the mirrors are slightly different...
