So, I have these plastic buttons in my trunk, and Im trying to figure out the alarm one:

Does that mean I have the alarm and all I need to do is activate it? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but the dealer said I need to buy the whole alarm and it would cost like $700!!!!

I'm pretty sure that pre-wiring just means that all the necessary wirings required for the system is already set up.

Let's say you wanna install a CD changer or Alarm, all you need to do is the buy the parts and connect to the wires that were already there when the car was built.

It means all you have to is buy the alarm from tischer for $235 or whatever it is and install the sensors and siren yourself, a very easy install since all the wiring is already done. There's a couple DIY's on here or out there, google it. You may still need the dealership to activate the new alarm after you install it (don't remember) but that should only be $50-$100 depending on the stealership.

It means exactly what it says... it's pre-wired for an alarm. Meaning all you would have to do is buy the alarm and essentially plug it in (*yes, not quite that simple but you get the idea) and get the alarm turned on at the dealer.

All the wires are run and ready for use.

The dealer is full of it. The full alarm kit is $235 from Tischer and it's a simple install. Is your clown nose blinking? If yes, it is already activated for you, and you're good to go after the installation..

...now where's that guy defending the dealerships again? Yeah, they said $700 for the alarm.....****en rip off artists

Yup, my clown nose is blinking....

DIY times:

1. Motion Sensor: Under 1 minute
2. Tilt Sensor: Under 4 minutes
3. Siren: Under 30 minutes.
For me, that equates to:

1. Motion Sensor: an hour
2. Tilt Sensor: an hour
3. Siren: all day

lol
